How to Fit Your Child’s Helmet

You'll need a soft tape to measure your child’s head. Wrap the tape measure around the circumference of your child’s head, just above their eyebrows. Make sure the tape measure is level all the way around. Write down the measurement in centimetres.

1. Have your child stand up straight and look straight ahead.
2. Place the soft tape measure just above your child’s eyebrows.
3. Wrap the tape measure around the circumference of your child’s head, ensuring the tape measure is level all the way around.
4. Write down the measurement in centimetres.

Once you have your child’s head measurement, you can use it to find the right size helmet. Most helmets will have a size range listed on the inside. For example, a helmet that says “46-52 cm” will fit a child with a head circumference of 46 to 52 centimetres. It is essential to ensure the helmet fits snugly but not too tightly. The helmet should sit level on your child’s head, and there should be no more than two fingers between the helmet and your child’s forehead. The straps should be adjusted to be snug but not too tight. You should be able to wiggle your child’s fingers under the straps. A properly fitted helmet will help to protect your child’s head in the event of a fall.
